This is the term used to designate the small food items that accompanied the drinking of tea. Dim sum is part of the Chinese tradition of snacks originating from the Song Dynasty where royal chefs created dishes. There are over one thousand dim sum dishes available and they are usually eaten as breakfast or brunch. Cantonese dim sum culture developed rapidly during the latter half of the nineteenth century in Guangzhou. Cantonese dim sum has a very broad range of flavors, textures, cooking styles, and ingredients. Dim sum can be categorized into regular items, seasonal offerings, weekly specials, banquet dishes, holiday dishes, house signature dishes, travel-friendly, as well as foods for breakfast, lunch, and late night snacks. I'll teach you three types Dim Sum that you must order when you in Chinese restaurant.
